Welcome to House for Rent Suriname!
If you are looking for a place to rent in Paramaribo North, we have the perfect home for you. Our spacious houses offer all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay.
In this section, we will give you an overview of key things to consider when choosing a rental home for in Paramaribo, Suriname.
1) Safety. Some parts of town are less safe then other parts. The outskirts tend to have many empty plots and hence are not surrounded by other houses, creating a less safe environment. Also streetlights are not present everywhere.
The plot on which this house is situated, is fully surrounded with neighbours. The neighbour bordering the back and 1 side is the plot of the National Water Company which is always covered in bright light when it is dark and 24/7 occupied with personell and onsite guards. At the front the streetlights are shining bright, creating additional safety. The plot is fully equipped with security cameras and the house has grilled windows. Overall, the neighbourhood is recognised generally as safe and the owners of the house are well connected to the neighbourhood.
2) Rainy season. Unfortunately, the sewer system of Paramaribo is not optimal and there are many streets in town seriously flooded after a heavy shower in the rainy season.
The plot on which this house is situated has a decent sewer system and pumps to get rid of excess water quickly. The street from the house to the 'Anton Dragtenweg' always stays dry and hence the house can always be reached easily in the rainy season as well.
3) Location and essential facilities. As an expat, you want to live closeby essential facilities such as an international style grocery store/supermarket (Choi), sports club (Dolfijn), health care (pharmacy Soma, Intermed medical doctor) international school (QSI, the leading international school in Suriname) and entertainment (the area around Torarica hotel). All this facilities can be reached within 10 car minutes from this house.
4) Flexibility. As an expat, you may wish not to reside full time in Suriname, because of for example tax considerations or family reasons, but rather fly in and out. This house can be rented for shorter intervals (minimum 3 months) and could hence accommodate your shorter term housing needs. It is also possible to agree upon longer timeframes (for example 1 year or 2 years) in which various shorter term periods can be reserved in advance.
5) Convenience. As an expat, you do not want to bother about maintenance of the garden and the plot itself, which can be fairly labour intensive. The plot is being taken care of by the owners and 3 to 4 times a month a gardener will drop by to take care of the plot and keep it well. There are no additional charges
